Dear Friends in Dharma
From the 8th till the 11th of September 2011 we all were called to Kyoto in order to have our European Shinshu Pilgrimage and Conference due to the 750th Memorial of our founder Shinran Shonin. Shinshu followers from seven European countries attended this gathering and it is of no exaggeration to say that it was indeed a once in a lifetime event. Thanks to the enormous efforts of IABC and the Hongwanji administration we all were made very welcome and we all were taken care of in an outstanding manner.
Even month in advanced Prof. Esho Sasaki and Prof. Hoyu Ishida took great care in organizing this event and both answered many questions and sorted out many difficulties. We all owe to them our deepest appreciation and gratitude. Let me add, that we want to thank all evolved staff of the IABC and Hongwanji International Center and that we are aware of the many work they all had in making this Pilgrimage such a wonderful event.
But our thanks are also directed to Rev. Jérôme Décor and Rev. Fons Martens, who on the European part took many efforts to make this event a very enjoyable and inspiring opportunity for all of us.
As mentioned in the previous articles, this happening in Kyoto will surely be in our minds for many years, especially because, so many highlights were made possible to experience for us. To me, one of the highlights was, that as a European Community we shared a mutual time in a wonderful environment and had the opportunity to show, that there is a European Sangha, which is very much alive and is willing to cooperate with each other in order to spread the wonderful teaching of Shinran Shonin and of our Hongwanji Tradition.
In closing I want to thank every single participant for the time we were able to share with each other. Thank you for many precious talks, individual encounters and discussions and the mutual Nembutsu practice at various occasions we shared in the land of Master Shinran Shonin.
